Choosing color is based on several factors. When you work with a professional, they are looking at your non-verbal and verbal cues. Some of those cues may be related to colors you choose to wear and how you react to color when talking about it or viewing it. Emotion surrounds most color choices and often times using a favorite piece of clothing, art or treasured item in the house is a good way to start getting there. The best way to help choose color is to “see” it during different times of the day and on different walls of the room. Most of the large paint manufacturers such as Sherwin-Williams, Benjamin Moore and many others provide professionals with large samples of color to give their clients to help in this effort. Don’t be afraid of color but embrace it. Take your time and ask a professional if you need a bit of coaching to help you get it right.
